Julep gets my jam, they know what its like to live and work in a dreary springtime land. Minnesota and Seattle are very much a like and oh so very different. Julep had me at “Brights + White.” This months colors and products did not disappoint. I had a very hard time choosing and added three additional products to my April Maven Box. Just a note, be careful not to drop the bottle or dropper both are made of glass. I did this for you and ended up stepping on said broken glass at 3AM ( I thought I got it all) and cut the bottom of my foot.

{Julep} All Night Long – December 2015

I have fallen back in love with Julep and the completely customizable Maven Box. If I do not like a product or a nail color, I can just swap it out for another product or shade. As far as I am aware Julep is the only company offering a totally customizable subscription box experience. The price did go from $19.99 to $24.99, having the ability to chose my products is worth the extra five bucks.

Feels Like Velvet Eyeshadow in Champagne and Caviar: Metallic pink nude & mocha shimmer. Blends effortlessly with a weightless finish and creates effortless eye looks when worn together—or each on their own.

Decembers collection was beautiful and I am so glad to have a matte lip gloss that I love. Before this one I was in a love hate relationship with matte gloss, a lot of them dry out to quickly and the color has a short life span. The Julep whipped delivered and I am one happy girl. The eye shadow is also lovely and easy to blend. I am so glad I chose the eye shadow and whipped, my box was totally me and I am in love with the new customization feature.

Julep was my gateway drug into a wonderful magical world of subscription boxes. This is actually my first box in well over a year, I stopped ordering for a while because I had more bottles of polish than I had toes. I wasn’t using it as fast as I thought I would and their beauty products did not peak my fancy. Plus there was the whole new warehouse and shipping issue saga, no one wants to remember that, it was a dark time in subscription box land. I waited out the dark time, Julep fixed the quirks and started listening to their Mavens, because well, Maven’s are always right.

{Julep Maven} March – The Riviera Collection

If you have been following my blog for a while, then you know I love getting mail. Specifically subscription boxes. I was never a lover of nail polish, that is until Julep fell into my mailbox. That one little introductory box got me hooked and I have been coming back for more. Julep is an amazing company that is powered by girlfriends. Now that is something to hang your hat on and fork your credit card over for. I love a company that sticks to its roots, empowers women, and gives back to the community. I get giddy when I come home to my Maven box sitting in my door way or sometimes at the bottom of the stairs. It’s like opening a little present each month. The theme for March was the Riviera Collection, the colors were fit for spring and transported you to a beach on the French Rivera. I don’t know about you, but I could use a beach right about now. Then again I can’t complain we finally had our first 50 degree day here in Minnesota. Which prompted me to yell “Goodbye Winter, and HELLO SPRING!” Yes I get excited for spring and days that are filled with warm sunshine.

——————> This blue reminds me of Paris. I love Pairs, its one of my favorite places on the planet!

{Julep Maven} The Dramatic Collection – February 2014

Julep has quickly become one of my favorite companies and every month I find myself stocking their Facebook page for sneak peeks. The February Maven Box sneak peek did not disappoint, it literally sent me over the moon and made my little heart pitter-patter. Each month Julep puts together a collection of their newest polish colors, along with innovative beauty and skin/hair care products. February’s beauty product was the new Julep Eye Sheen, a liquid eye shadow that comes in four colors.

What made the February box special was the fact that you got to pick the color of your eye shadow that came in your box. The polish colors were set in stone by style profile, if you didn’t like what was in your box, you could pick a different one and then chose your shadow color. I decided to leave the modern beauty box behind and went for a classic with a twist box. Mainly because they Modern Beauty box contained a liquid eyeliner, I’d never use it, I don’t do eyeliner. However I do like pretty polish on my toes and what can I say “I am an eye shadow whore.” It’s true I am.

{Julep Maven} Julep’s Winter Warehouse Sale

January saleI had heard a rumor that Julep would be having a warehouse sale with deeply discounted polishes and beauty products. The January Julep box was filled with pretty colors however none of them grabbed my eye and the beauty product was so so. I decided to save my $20.00 and waited for the Winter Warehouse Sale.

Boy am I sure glad I decided to skip January’s box and partake in the warehouse sale. The polish and beauty product selection was off the charts. Polishes were as low as $2.99 and the color selection was mind-boggling. I pursed the sale for about an hour before I nailed down four colors that I needed in my collection.

I have always been interested in Julep’s special effect polishes. Interested but not willing to fork over $14.99 each to try them. However with the warehouse sale going on it was a different story and most of the special effect polishes were marked down to $2.99. $2.99 ladies, $2.99 is a steal. I could not pass up the low price point and forked over my credit card.

I purchased four special effects polishes for $2.99 each for a total of $11.96. Normally the four polishes would have cost me a whooping $59.96, but with Julep’s incredible warehouse sale I saved $48.00. How awesome is that! That’s like 2 months worth of Julep Maven plus an add on. I am so glad I believed in the rumor and skipped the January Maven box for the sale. Now I have four pretty polishes to try.

Polish isn’t the only thing I bought at the sale. I also purchased a lip gloss. What can I say I am a sucker for lip gloss and had to have it. I got the lip vernis for $4.99 it normally sells for $18.00. I saved $13.01, which is totally awesome!

I admit, I get pretty darn excited when I see an email from Julep in my inbox. The email is always the same, it explains the current theme and informs me that the maven selection window is now open. I love the fact that you can see what all of the boxes contain. That way you can either skip the month or pick a different style profile box. Each box contains 2 polishes along with one full-sized beauty item, every box that is except for the modern beauty box which contains two (yes I said two) full-sized beauty products. Julep does have a polish only option where you will receive three pretty polishes each month.

The theme for November is “Right at home” a time to cozy up. The colors for this month capture the notes of fall perfectly. The sneak peek email got me really excited, I am a gloss kind of girl and Julep announced that they were coming out with a new gloss. A gloss that would be included in the November Maven box.

What did I think? I am a gloss girl and I have tried hundreds of glosses in my day. Julep did a
great job developing the gloss. The gloss is a little on the thick side, yet
shiny, and it covered nicely. The color stood up and kept my lips hydrated for
hours.

What did I think? I admit, I was so excited about the gloss that I forgot the packet was in the box.

I fell in love with a few of the polish colors, but I really wanted the gloss and lip primer so I kept with my style profile and chose a few add-ons. I decided to add-on Brielle which is a deep autumn orange crème and Aisha a wildberry purple crème. I cracked open Brielle on Friday night and I have yet to decide if I am a fan of the color. It looked pretty on the website, however in person it seems more like a rust than an autumn orange. The quality and pigment of the polish is great, it goes on easy and covers like a dream.

{Julep} October Maven – The Rebel Set

October JulepIt’s always a great day when I come home to find a black box sitting in front of my door. For some reason Julep.com did not send a shipping notification email this month, so I had no idea when it was supposed to arrive or if my box had shipped.

The sneak peek email was all about Kajal Eye Glider & Sharpener, which I am not an eyeliner type of girl so I wasn’t to thrilled about October’s box. That is until I learned that the Modern Beauty box would contain a deep cleaning peel-off face mask. Now that is something I can get excited for. I love trying new cleansers and masks. Plus October had a really great theme “The Rebel Set,” the polish colors were edgy and dark. I like to think I am a bit of a rebel and couldn’t waited for the box to arrive.

This month I decided to select a few add-ons and to use some of my Jules which are points you earn from making purchases on julep.com. As I reviewed the add-on selections one particular polish caught my eye “Casper” claimed to be a glow in the dark polish. I am a sucker for all things glow in the dark so I had to have it. Plus by using my Jules it was absolutely free. One can’t turn down a glow in the dark polish when its free. In addition to Casper I added on “Stevie” which is a very pretty concrete gray frost. I am not one to choose a dark shade, but I love the hue of Stevie, its dark yet warm.

October Maven Box – The Rebel set

***Kajal Eye Glider & Sharpener:
Is a two ended pencil with two different shades, Ideal for inner rims, tightlining, and smoky eyes. It was a very nice touch that the included a sharpener with the eyeliner. I am not an eyeliner type of girl so I will be passing this one-off to a friend.

***Mask Noir:
Is a gentle peel-off mask of kaolin clay and black volcanic ash that is enriched with Julep’s proprietary Power Cell Complex™, a trio of skin-boosting superstars. I used the mask the day I got it and absolutely hands down loved the way it made my skin feel. The mask is black, as in as black as night black. Which was a little odd at fist. It took about 15 minutes for the mask to dry and it peeled off like a dream. Unlike some masks that stick to your face, this one just came right off. My skin was clean and visibly brighter after the first use. I will definitely be stocking up on the mask and recommending it to my girlfriends.

Bonus Item: Candy Corn.
I hands down love candy corn and it fit very nicely as Halloween is just around the corner.
