{Julep} New Year, Fresh Look

January 2016

No matter what you resolve to do in the new year, hydration should always be a priority. In our January collection you’ll find moisturizing lip crayons in right-now hues, and a luxe hydrating crème that’s formulated for anywhere your skin wants it. But first, let’s talk color.

I don’t know how you spent your New Years Eve, I spent mine in an eggplant colored dress, filled my face at the buffet, and cuddled up next to Jay watching the ball drop. It was a great night and it was totally us. Jay and I are not huge party people, we rather have a party on the couch in our PJs with our fur babies. I love the New Year, there is a whole host of new beauty products and trends on the horizon. Plus its a clean slate, your beauty blunders are so last year.

Julep is such an innovative company with a carefully curated product line that aims to please and helps you feel your best beautiful. The polishes are 5-free, no harsh chemicals will be found in their pretty square bottles and no to mention the colors are named after real women. How cool is that, maybe one day there will be an “AJ” polish, a girl can dream.

Enough babbling, lets dive right into the New Year, Fresh Look collection!

Julep, January 2016 – New Year, Fresh Look

No Limits Luxe Hydrating Creme: is a universal moisturizer that laughs in the face of dry winter skin while soothing any place you decide to put it.
————–No Limits includes a cool packaging perk: A push-button airless delivery system to dispense the just-right amount while keeping the crème inside free from impurities. What will they think of next?

Julep Lip Gloss in Splendid: a sheer heirloom rose shimmer
———————-> I said it earlier but Julep truly is an amazing company! I had a stroke a few years back and my grip isn’t the greatest, I drop a lot of shit. I can’t prevent it nor can I predict when my grip is going to weaken, things just hit the floor. I emailed Julep letting them know that a glass bottled lip gloss doesn’t go well with a girl like me. I always manage to drop it, the bottle breaks at the neck, and my new shinny gloss is now BFFs with the trash. It isn’t Juleps fault that my grip sucks, yet they still offered to send me a replacement gloss. That replacement was mailed out today, Like I said Julep is hands down an amazing company.

Breathable nail color—Color Treat in “Julep”: Julep signature crème
—————> The description doesn’t tell you much, it is a purple hue.

Breathable nail color—Color Treat in Shay: Celadon iridescent chrome

Julep never disappoints, especially since the My Maven feature lets you totally customize your entire box. If you do not like a product or a polish color you can simply swap it out for something that you love. Don’t worry the swapping is so easy a toddler could do it. The hardest part is choosing which products you want to go in your monthly box.

To get a box of your very own visit wwww.julep.com for more information.

After your Welcome Box, the contents of your monthly Maven Box depend on the program you signed up for. Each My Maven Box includes over $40 worth of new beauty innovations and/or limited-run nail colors. We create at least five new boxes every month—one for each Style Profile, plus monthly exclusives. If you have a fully customizable subscription, you can personalize your box by picking exactly what you want.

{Julep} All Night Long – December 2015

December 2015

“We’ve waited all year for this. Our December collection sees the long-awaited launch of a liquid-to-matte lip mousse developed with the help of thousands (thank you!). We’re pretty sure it’s our best lippy yet and we can’t wait to hear what you think about the final result. Pre-work coffee with a fave friend, white elephant gift lunch at the office, happy hour, date night, dinner, dancing, holiday brunch… Social energy runs hot this month and our December polish palette is ready to party.”

I have fallen back in love with Julep and the completely customizable Maven Box. If I do not like a product or a nail color, I can just swap it out for another product or shade. As far as I am aware Julep is the only company offering a totally customizable subscription box experience. The price did go from $19.99 to $24.99, having the ability to chose my products is worth the extra five bucks.

“So What products did you pick for your December Maven Box!?”
December 15

Oh, I am so glad you asked!

All Night Long

Feels Like Velvet Eyeshadow in Champagne and Caviar: Metallic pink nude & mocha shimmer. Blends effortlessly with a weightless finish and creates effortless eye looks when worn together—or each on their own.

It’s Whipped – Bisou: Modern Mauve hydrating, liquid-to-matte mousse that glides on mess-free, grips for all day vibrancy, and has a weightless finish.

Shader Brush: This versatile brush features fine, soft, synthetic bristles that allow for smooth, controlled application and flawless blending.

I used 400 Jules to add on a polish for free. I added on Rayma: Italian plum crème

Decembers collection was beautiful and I am so glad to have a matte lip gloss that I love. Before this one I was in a love hate relationship with matte gloss, a lot of them dry out to quickly and the color has a short life span. The Julep whipped delivered and I am one happy girl. The eye shadow is also lovely and easy to blend. I am so glad I chose the eye shadow and whipped, my box was totally me and I am in love with the new customization feature.

{Julep} The Switch-Up Collection

November 2015

“We can no longer pretend we’re at the tail end of summer—it’s time our beauty routines lean into cold months. Fall 2015 is crushing it with updated texture (more on that in a minute), and skincare calls for extra love & protection.”

Nov 2015

Julep was my gateway drug into a wonderful magical world of subscription boxes. This is actually my first box in well over a year, I stopped ordering for a while because I had more bottles of polish than I had toes. I wasn’t using it as fast as I thought I would and their beauty products did not peak my fancy. Plus there was the whole new warehouse and shipping issue saga, no one wants to remember that, it was a dark time in subscription box land. I waited out the dark time, Julep fixed the quirks and started listening to their Mavens, because well, Maven’s are always right.

The Switch-Up Collection

Nov 15

What Your Skin Needs: is a lightweight treatment milk infused with five potent oils to hydrate and replenish skin. Just in time for winter’s harsh bluster on our sweet faces, this restorative facial milk is a seasonally on-point addition to the daily routine—under moisturizer, before makeup.
———————> My skin is in a hot hot romance with this lightweight magical moisturizing milk. At first I was confused by the package, confusion was shot lived, you dispense the product with an eye dropper, its old school and cool. The milk absorbs quickly into the skin and does not leave a greasy heavy feeling behind. I use it at night and I wake up to incredibly soft morning skin, it is now my go to moisturizer.

Take a Breather: Oxygen Nail Treatment has a new name and a new sparkler in the family. Take a Breather adds a third option, a subtle shimmer, to the classic pink and chic ivory shades that have been healing and hardening nails between manicures since 2013.
———————> I am not a nail polish on my fingers kind of girl, I don’t even do nude shades, so this product is my go to. The classic pink has taken a back seat to the new shimmer. My nails are now a little scandalous with their shimmery coat.

Color Treat: Julep’s Breakthrough Oxygen Technology powers this fast-drying, long-lasting nail polish to get nails healthy and more beautiful at the same time. Our proprietary 5-free, vegan-friendly formula also includes strengthening Hexanal and antioxidant green coffee extract. You’ll never look at nail polish the same way again.

November2015
Aubrey: Rosewood shimmer

Cheyenne: Auburn matte metallic

Melody: Iridescent high gloss glitter top coat

{Julep} Cupid’s Mystery Clutch

Julep
Julep was my very first subscription box that I received and it got me hooked. Last spring there was a huge shipping fiasco with Julep and I stopped ordering their Maven Box. I am still a Maven, its just that I skip the months I am not interested in. The last mystery box that I ordered from Julep was a huge flop. I have since learned to wait for people to start posting about the mystery boxes before I place an order. So on the bus ride home I researched everyone’s reviews and by night fall my little fingers hit complete order. I needed the clutch in my life and I could not wait for it to arrive.

Cupid’s Mystery Box got a sassy upgrade this year. Rock your date night with $100+ of beauty goods and nail color including the snowy heart glitter top coat Yuki (Classic with a Twist), and pink chevron glitter top coat va-va-Valentina (Bombshell). Julep was selling the box for $24.99 which is a heck of a deal! To make that deal even sweeter I used the code CONGRATS and got a free bonus wedding duo. The duo was valued at $25.00 and it came in this cute little pink box. I am not getting married anytime soon, but the colors were to pretty to pass up, plus it was free.

The Polish:

Yuki: snowy heart glitter top coat

Valentina: pink chevron glitter top coat

Joanne: Smoky plum crème

Rochelle: Boysenberry shimmer

Margit: Mushroom with rose shimmer

The Beauty:

Julep Lip Gloss in Splendid: Sheer heirloom rose shimmer, with Power Cell Complex

Julep Gel Eye Glider in Smoky Plum: The waterproof formula glides on, sets in 30 seconds, and then stays put.

Bonus Wedding Duo:
Julep3

Fifi: Tea time pink crème

Sienna: Sophisticated, shimmery gold

I am so glad that I took the plunge and purchased the mystery clutch. All of the colors go together nicely and the beauty products were fantastic. I hope that this box means that Julep is stepping up the quality of their mystery boxes. If it is a sign, I will definitely be purchasing more in the future.

{Julep Maven} Julep’s Winter Warehouse Sale

January saleI had heard a rumor that Julep would be having a warehouse sale with deeply discounted polishes and beauty products. The January Julep box was filled with pretty colors however none of them grabbed my eye and the beauty product was so so. I decided to save my $20.00 and waited for the Winter Warehouse Sale.

Boy am I sure glad I decided to skip January’s box and partake in the warehouse sale. The polish and beauty product selection was off the charts. Polishes were as low as $2.99 and the color selection was mind-boggling. I pursed the sale for about an hour before I nailed down four colors that I needed in my collection.

I have always been interested in Julep’s special effect polishes. Interested but not willing to fork over $14.99 each to try them. However with the warehouse sale going on it was a different story and most of the special effect polishes were marked down to $2.99. $2.99 ladies, $2.99 is a steal. I could not pass up the low price point and forked over my credit card.

“So what did I get at the Julep Warehouse Sale?” Oh I am so glad you asked! Let’s find out!

January Polish
Kai – Sea salt finish: A baby blue sea salt polish with a textured finish and sparkle.

Sabrina – crackle finish: a zesty orange shimmer crackle polish

Wendy – Rock Candy Glaze: a sheer watermelon red jelly nail glaze

Angelica – Rock Candy Glaze: a sheer minty green jelly nail glaze

I purchased four special effects polishes for $2.99 each for a total of $11.96. Normally the four polishes would have cost me a whooping $59.96, but with Julep’s incredible warehouse sale I saved $48.00. How awesome is that! That’s like 2 months worth of Julep Maven plus an add on. I am so glad I believed in the rumor and skipped the January Maven box for the sale. Now I have four pretty polishes to try.

Polish isn’t the only thing I bought at the sale. I also purchased a lip gloss. What can I say I am a sucker for lip gloss and had to have it. I got the lip vernis for $4.99 it normally sells for $18.00. I saved $13.01, which is totally awesome!

Julep Lip Vernis in Peony: a nude blush creme. This ultra-creamy, long-wearing gloss has a mirror like finish.

In total I saved $61.01 by shopping the Julep winter warehouse sale. Wow, that it totally freaking awesome! God I love a good deal and saving money on quality products.

Julep Maven is a $19.99/month monthly nail polish & Beauty box subscription service. Each box features over $40.00 worth of never before released polishes, cutting edge treatments, and a bonus sample sized product. {Julep Maven} The Glitterati Collection ~ December 2013

First look2As many of you know, the Julep Maven box is my favorite monthly box. I get giddy when the selection window opens, I eagerly wait for my shipping confirmation email, and stock the tracking number on usps.com. Nothing brightens my day like finding a black box from Julep in front of my door. Except December’s box was silver and I knew that with the new hue I was going to be in for a treat. A very glitter filled treat and I could not wait to break the seal!

Julep picked the perfect theme for the month of December. For me the holidays are all about sparkle and shine. My Christmas tree is trimmed in glitter and glitz. There is no such thing as to many glitter ornaments nor is there such a thing as too much sparkle. (I know I need help) Anyways back to Julep, the theme for December is “The Glitterati Collection.” Each polish hue fit the theme perfectly, there was a ton of sparkle and glitz throughout the collection. It was very hard to nail down my selection this month. I changed my mind at least three times. One thing I was certain of was that I was not interested in the modern beauty box, a girl only needs so many eye primers. I wanted the eyeshadow palette along with the glitziness of the December polish collection. I set my sights on the shimmery cranberry colored polish and selected the bombshell box.

“Personality is the glitter.” ~Mae West

So What did I get in my December Bombshell Maven Box? That’s a great question! I am so glad you asked!
december

The Glitterati Collection

Sweep Eyeshadow Palette – Neutrals: Create looks as bold or as soft as you’d like while smoothing lids. Formulated with anti-aging ingredients including Julep’s exclusive Power Cell Complex™, the five classic shades are: •Tiramisu—nude satin •Glow—golden shimmer •Dusk—mauve satin •Toffee—bronze shimmer •Cocoa—chocolate brown with gold shimmer.
————————-> I hands down love the eyeshadow! Well except for the cocoa it is to dark for my fair completion. I am a very pasty girl and the other four shades complement my skin tone perfectly. The best part a little bit of shadow goes along way and the pigments hold up all day long. One has to love that, as a busy girl on the go does not have time for touch ups.

Andrea – A brilliant bronze glitter polish
————————> I was extremely excited for this shade to arrive. As in it was the first thing I tried when I opened my box. My pent-up excitement lead to deep disappointment. I painted my toes on Tuesday night and by Wednesday the polish flaked off. As in “AJ was singing in the shower minding her own business washing her toes when the polish flaked off in sheets and went right down the drain to lake Calhoun.” I was all sorts of sad my toes were no longer incredibly sparkly, they were just plain old human toes. That is until I remembered that I had………..

Cara – A shimmery cranberry frost polish
———————–> LOVE! LOVE LOVE! The color is perfect for he season, it has a hint of shimmer with a whole lot of shine.Did I mention that I am in LOVE with the hue. Best part of all the polish has stayed in tact!

***BONUS ITEM! (Who doesn’t love a BONUS?) Hair ties from thetwistband.com
————————> I have seen a lot of these “hair ties” on the market and have yet to join the hair tie bandwagon. That is until Julep so nicely put two in the box. It’s a hair tie, nothing special or spectacular, it does the job of holding my hair back.

Once again Julep has put together a beautiful box with great products and I cannot wait to see what the next box will hold.

Julep Maven is a $19.99/month monthly nail polish & Beauty box subscription service. Each box features over $40.00 worth of never before released polishes, cutting edge treatments, and a bonus sample sized product. PLUS when you are a Maven you get free shipping and 20% off of all of the products at http://www.julep.com.
