{Walmart* Beauty Box} Fall 2016

Ahhh it’s finally fall! Which means any thing and everything is coming up pumpkin spice. Which is not ok in my book I LOVE fall but despises pumpkin spice anything. Pumpkins are for carving, not eating. Any hoo….. the Minnesota air is getting crisp, the trees are starting to show there colors, and my skin is dry as fuck. Fall/winter weather does a number on your skin. No one likes to be all sorts of dry and itchy. It’s just one of things one puts up with when they live in a northern climate.

Thankfully Walmart came to my rescue with a box full of products perfectly suited for fall. I know know Walmart. One of these days you have to drop your “I can’t shop at Walmart complex.” Walmart is awesom in my book, that’s where I do my grocery and household shopping. Not to mention I got a nice puffer jacket which is perfect for fall there last weekend for $10.00! Now that was a steal of a deal.

Hello Spring! Well around here it is more like “Hello wind and chilly days!” Spring has sort of sprung in Minnesota, our days are a tad warmer, snow free, and fucking windy. Wind is no ones friend, it messes with ones perfectly groomed hair and skirts of a certain length are not safe.

Affordable easily accessible beauty and skin care products are important and Walmart always showcases the seasons hot new products. Thou I am a little concerned, Walmart must think that I have bad breath and itchy skin, they sent me tooth past and an itchy skin body wash. Everything else is semi-debatable.

Hello Winter! Wait Winter, where are you? The ground is still brown, there is no ice, traffic is a breeze, and snow storms are missing. Oh winter you decided to take a vacation and miss Minnesota this year, well that is just fantastic! Merry Christmas Winter, Merry Christmas. Winter has been mild in Minnesota and I could not be happier. Digging yourself out after snowstorms gets a little old, as does being stuck on the freeway for hours because someone forgot how to drive in the wintery conditions.

Walmart shelves are loaded down with Christmas decorations, gift sets, and of course toys. We cannot forget the TOYS, toys for big kids and little ones alike. I am a fan of the Pioneer Woman Collection, kitchen toys are always a safe buy and well new beauty products too. Tis the season to try something new and refreshing. My winter box arrived just in time, the weatherman claims its going to start snowing here and the temps are about to drop. Which means I will be in search of new products to keep the dreaded winter dry skin at bay.

Ahh September you have finally arrives, the cool air is quietly rushing in, pumpkin spice everything lines the shelves, and I start sneezing, as in really sneezing. Fall is my favorite time of the year, there are apples to eat, pumpkins to carve, and cool nights to cuddle in. Fall brings change, each fall I grow older and tick off one more year of survival, in the fall I find comfort in the changes around me.

Fall means switching up my beauty routine and prepping my skin for winter. I start putting away my light summer formulas and pull out my heavy duty moisturizers. My tan starts to fade and my skin loses its luster, fall I love you, but you are not good for my skin. Fall is also tights weather, I love wearing tights with my dresses and pulling out my heavier cardigans and blazers, not to mention my plethora of ballet flats too. Walmart happens to be my go to spot for stocking up on my fall beauty needs and ballet flats. Oh and not to mention I am now obsessed with the Pioneer Woman’s collection, which lives at walmart. So yes I have lots of reasons to go to Walmart.

SUMMER! Has finally arrived and I could not be happier. Long sunny days are what I live for, throw in a lake and I am one very happy girl. If that lake has a beach and sea glass, I will probably just explode. Yes I know because that right there would just be a summer overload! Summers in Minnesota are short, but hey its why we chose the land of 10,000 lakes to be our home, there is nothing like a Minnesota summer.

I get really antsy this time of year, the days are getting longer, the temps are creeping north of 30, and all I want to do is bask in the sunshine. Work, it gets in the way, but hey it pays for my subscription box habit and the dogs kibble, so I can’t complain. Besides we all know I love my job and work like there is no tomorrow. This is why I have a dog, the dog gets me outside in the fore mentioned sunshine and warm temperatures. He’s good like that.

The Walmart beauty box is exposing consumers to easily accessible and affordable brands. The Winter Box is the second quarterly box from Walmart and it promised to be packed with products to get us through the coldest season of the year. There was a glitch with the Walmart Beauty Box site and at one time it looked like I had ordered 7 boxes. Thankfully my card was only charged for one $5.00 box and I only received one box. A few weeks ago the internet was rumbling with rumors of a $5.00 beauty box from Walmart. A lot of ladies were concerned that it was a scam because the web address did not have “https” in it and they felt that it was not secure. This fear continued even when they went to walmart.com and found the box in the beauty section. After a few days Walmart reassured the masses that the box was real and that the online order form was encrypted. I for one did not doubt the box and signed up on the first day it was released.

The new Walmart beauty box is exposing consumers to easily accessible and affordable brands. I actually love the concept of a mass retailer having a quarterly box. This allows me to sample products and if I like it I can go straight to Walmart to buy said product. Calm down, yes I just publically admitted that I shop at Walmart. Its probably a sin seeing how I live and work in the birthplace of Target. Don’t get me wrong I have equal love for both Walmart and Target. Walmart is were I buy groceries, Freshpet and other necessities. I buy my cardigans, gifts and household items from Target. That is enough confessions for one day, lets get back on track and talk about the box!

Props to Walmart for putting together an awesome box. Three of the products I received were full-size and the Dove samples were deluxe sized. The deodorant, nail polish, and gloss balm were worth a total of $17.92. I honestly feel like I just robbed Walmart, I paid $5.00 for $20.00 worth of full-sized products and samples.

Walmart has different variations of the quarterly box. They are using age as a deciding factor on which box is sent to you. The questionnaire on the beauty profile is pretty simple and I like that they are sending me a box based on my age and not what I check. It seems that they are putting one common product in each box and after that your items are left up to chance. The only thing that bugged me was that they did not send out a shipping confirmation and I could not track my box.
